First, it's important to act fast. The sooner you treat a blood stain, the better your chances of removing it.
If the fabric is dry, start by wetting it with cold water. Then, apply a pre-treatment solution or laundry detergent directly to the stain and rub it in gently. Let the fabric soak in the solution for at least five minutes before laundering as usual.
If the fabric is already wet or if the above method doesn't work, you can try making a paste with equal parts salt and cold water. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for at least 30 minutes before laundering. You can also add 1/2 cup of vinegar to your wash cycle for extra stain-fighting power.
For stubborn stains, you may need to soak the fabric in a mixture of 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 2 parts cold water for 30 minutes before laundering. Be sure to test this method on an inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't damage the fabric.
