Tear stains can develop around your pet’s eyes over time. While these stains are mostly cosmetic, they can be unsightly and difficult to remove. In this blog post, we'll explain what tear stains are and offer some tips on how to get rid of them.

What are Tear Stains?

Tear stains are markings that develop beneath your pet's eyes. They occur when tears overflow from the ducts and mix with the fur around the eyes. This discoloration is most often seen in cats and dogs with white or light-colored fur, as the staining is more visible against these colors.

While tear stains are mostly a cosmetic issue, they can also be a sign of a more serious problem. If your pet has red or brown tear stains, it could be a sign of an allergic reaction or other underlying health condition. If you notice any changes in your pet's tear stains, it's important to consult with a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Removing Tear Stains

There are a few things you'll need in order to remove tear stains from your pet's face:

- A mild shampoo

- A soft cloth or cotton ball

- White vinegar or lemon juice (optional)

- Pet tear stain remover (optional)

Start by wetting your pet's face with warm water. Next, apply a small amount of shampoo to the affected area and gently massage it into your pet's fur. Rinse the shampoo off with warm water. Repeat this process until the tear stains are gone. Once the stains are gone, you can rinse your pet's face with white vinegar or lemon juice to help prevent them from coming back.
