What We Love About This Product
These are so worth it, if only for the hysterical laughter that comes from the first attempt to walk in them. They come out of the box assembled for the most part, which is great. It's pre-fit for a larger (probably male) foot. To size down to a smaller foot size takes some maneuvering of the straps which isn't too difficult. Note: get them on and walk in the grass first. Trying to walk on concrete is like learning to skate, with toy like, general sized skates that have spikes attached. It won't end well! In the grass expect to feel like your feet are glued to the ground. It's a little like snowshoeing, actually. I face planted more than once which is also why I recommend thick boots or jeans to protect the ankles. No joke, I have 6" platform heels that are easier to walk in! If the ground is wet also expect to have a clump of mud and leaves gather in the spikes. End result, it was way cheaper and more fun than renting a commercial machine. My grass came back nicely this spring using these and some basic overseeding. You can't go wrong. Your neighbors will thank you for the cheap entertainment and you can one up them with a healthy looking yard.- Amazon Review By Eli Mac

These worked Great on my second try. My first time, I put them on without testing them. On every step, it was all i could do to pull them out. The ground was too soft and wet. After my first try, I learned that I needed to test them. Now, i take one, stick it in the yard by hand and see how hard it is to pull out. They work great when the ground is right.-Amazon Review By John J
Best to use this when the soil is damp and soft so it's easiest. if it's too muddy, it's harder to pull up to step forward. If it's too dry, it's harder for the spikes to penetrate the ground. Definitely to wear with work boots or Army boot, but not shoes. For smaller sizes, patience is needed to move the straps to accommodate smaller sizes, but it's not difficult. Women with size 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 can use these, but great care must be taken to ensure the front strap is as far back toward the ankle as possible and as tight as possible, or the strap might slip off. The platform the boot rests on is not too long for a woman wearing size 5 1/2 to use. The straps are easy to adjust, and not uncomfortable, even when pulled tight. Readjustment/retightening might be needed after a half hour or so of nonstop aeration. Aerating the lawn this way is moderate work and good exercise. This will work legs and provide some cardio because it's not just like walking around the yard. These do take some getting used to, and someone might need a walking stick or (someone else's) rollator with large wheels for balance. These are not a goof product for someone that uses any kind of rollator for daily activities/walking assistance. Easier to go up and down hills instead of across them. Much easier, faster, and cheaper than the hard-to-use push-type aerators. After some rain, there was a noticeable difference between the aerated part of the lawn and the unfinished (unaerated part).-Amazon Review By An Amazon Customer

FAQ’s For Lawn Aeration Shoes
Do spike aerators work?
Spike aeration works but provides short-term results. Spikes push the soil down and to the sides instead of removing the thick thatch that is causing compaction. With time, the soil will readjust and close the small holes.
What month is best for aeration?
The best time for aeration is during the spring or early summer and during the fall. The rule of thumb is to aerate when there is the most root growth.
Should I pick up plugs after aerating?
No, you do not have to pick the plugs up if someone uses a machine to aerate your lawn. They will eventually break down and become unnoticeable.
